Job Summary

The Assistant Director position will report to the Director of the Business Operations Support Center and is pivotal in overseeing and managing the operational activities of Facilities/Campus Life Services (CLS) to ensure seamless and efficient business processes, with a strong emphasis on customer service. Responsibilities encompass overseeing diverse areas such as application support, contracts, grants, annual recharge rates, and budget operations. The position involves supervising a sizable team of professionals and ensuring accountability for their decisions. It requires coordination across functional areas to support the organization in achieving strategic objectives. Key aspects include strategic planning, where effective management is critical to avoiding increased costs, personnel issues, and operational delays. Moreover, the role focuses on managing customer service operations, impacting academic and non-academic staff. This entails setting service objectives, planning work, and delegating tasks to managers. The position also involves managing resources, developing customer service policies, and implementing changes with broad organizational impact. Within the Business Operations and Support Center, oversight spans sub-programs, including Call Center and Work Management, Zello program support, Service Level Agreement program support, Capital Asset, Finance, and Billing, Surveys, Maximo system support, and Onboarding Training for FS/CLS operations. Success in this role hinges on a deep understanding of business operations, strong communication, analytical prowess, leadership, and collaborative skills, ensuring an excellent customer experience across Facilities/Campus Life Services (CLS).

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $105,900 - $206,300 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, major in Healthcare Management.
  • Associate in Applied Science, Computer Science, major in Computer Technology.
  • 5+ Years of relevant progressive experience
  • Certifications for the following:
  • Foundation Elements of DEI APPA
  • loT - Maximo Introduction and Overview IBM
  • LEAN Journey - White Belt Haley & Aldrich
  • Excel 2007/2010 Advanced AcademyX
  • Supervisory Competency - Leading the Frontline UCSF Learning
  • Broad knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on budget, account and fund management and / or personnel management under labor contract(s) and personnel policy.
  • Broad knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; and / or accounting and payroll.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence / persuade all levels of staff.
  • Skills in organization and customer service to effectively manage multiple important priorities. Proven ability to organize department work functions in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Broad knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Skills to work collaboratively with other locations.
  • Proven skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.
