Job Summary

This position will provide comprehensive executive administrative, analytical, and academic support to the faculty of the Division of Pediatric Surgery and requires a high level of independence and autonomy.

The incumbent will manage a range of responsibilities associated with the administrative, research, and clinical roles.

This position will support the Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland faculty as well as work closely with the assistant to the Chief of Pediatric Surgery to ensure all faculty receive academic and research support.

This position is critical in managing the many leadership roles faculty have at UCSF, including oral communication and written correspondence with Division and Department faculty, other university faculty and officials, the Dean and UCSF Medical Center administration, national journal editorial boards, publishers, professional associations, research institutes, private corporations, and private foundations, governmental agencies, other high level contacts at other universities, and patients.

The incumbent will need to thoroughly understand the policies of the institutions (UCSF, UC Medical Center, and other foundations, organizations, and institutions) to resolve issues and implement Division policies for activities. In addition to assisting the Faculty, the incumbent will also provide general executive administrative and analytical assistance to other faculty members as required.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $29.05 - $53.50 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience
  • Excellent writing skills, including ability to communicate technical information and prepare complex documents with minimal assistance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, and customer service skills
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and maintain attention to detail in fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet competing deadlines; Ability to follow detailed instructions from manager, clinical staff and faculty in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrated excellent reliability and attendance.
  • Experience planning large meetings and conferences


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UCSF Accounting and School of Medicine policies/procedures on travel, meeting and entertainment; expenses, and purchasing and vendor payments
