Job Summary

Under general supervision, guided by the policies and procedures of the Center for Reproductive Health and Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the physician staff, the Registered Nurse performs established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients. The RN collaborates with the physician in providing excellent clinical care to the reproductive health patients. The RN consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor. The RN demonstrates competence in the management of patient flow and daily peri-operative operations. The RN shall comply with the medical center house and telephone standards. They provide expert nursing care to the patients receiving assisted and non-assisted reproductive techniques. These duties include patient instruction and discharge teaching; charting and documenting in appropriate records; administering and monitoring medications; assisting with procedures; communicating all patient scheduling needs with practice staff; and coordinating patient care between the various practice teams. The RN will assess patient needs and in collaboration with the physicians' plan interventions; evaluate patient response to treatments; admit, recover and discharge patients. The RN will work collaboratively with the HA staff, anesthesiologists, MDs, RNs and embryology team: and participate in the EMR/APEX process.

The Registered Nurse will assess health needs and perform functions specific to unassisted and assisted reproductive techniques as well as andrology, gynecological treatment patients, and male Urology patients. The RN will assess patient needs, then plan, evaluate and participate in care for patients/couples. They will utilize specialized knowledge and skills for evaluation and teaching within this patient population and may act as a resource person within the organization and/or community. The RN will consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor. The Registered Nurse shall comply with the Medical Center house and telephone standards. Registered Nurse will: set-up for and assist physician with Oocyte Retrieval, Ultrasound Guided Embryo Transfer, Hysteroscopy, Manual Uterine Aspiration and Cyst Aspiration; set up and assist with male Urology procedures as needed including providing IV conscious sedation; check in patient, obtain vital signs, obtain IV access and complete preoperative nursing assessment. In addition, other duties include medication scheduling, prescription management; coordination of patient's treatment cycle, education, and support throughout the continuum of care; and will provide accurate and safe postoperative care.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of REI experience
  • A minimum of five years clinical/perioperative experience as an RN
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment, detail oriented, flexible with excellent communication skills. Position to include weekend coverage with variable weekday shifts.
  • Previous experience in Women's Health field and Male Urology
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Computer skills
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience ambulatory healthcare environment
  • Previous experience in OB/GYN
  • Experience with APEX or other EMRs


License/Certification

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification
