REPORTS TO: Managing Director of Elementary Academics

POSITION TYPE: 12-month

START DATE: July 1, 2025

COMPENSATION: $74,604 - $89,525, Home Office Grade 7

THE OPPORTUNITY

YES Prep needs a dynamic Director of Multilingual with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships

To put it simply, you will ensure our students experience a rigorous academic program that increases achievement and better prepares them for college success by leading a team that creates high-quality and aligned Emergent Bilingual supports and professional development, while developing and implementing strategies to increase strong program execution and respond to organizational, external, and data context, ultimately resulting in meeting rigorous language acquisition goals for both state accountability.

THE ROLE

When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:

Vision and Leadership
  • Collaborating closely with the Managing Director to maintain vision in Multilingual Programming, including programming for English language acquisition in the English as a Second Language and Bilingual program;
  • Designing, implementing, and evaluating multilingual programs that meet the needs of the community and state requirements;
  • Providing leadership and direction to Home Office and campus teams, ensuring high-quality service delivery and coordination of programs;
  • Fostering a collaborative and inclusive school culture that celebrates linguistic diversity and promotes equity and access for all students;
  • Investing stakeholders, prioritizing initiatives, and developing strategies and processes to reach exemplary student achievement in a fluid educational landscape;
  • Working cross-functionally with members of the Home Office Compliance, Special Populations Administration, and Recruitment & Enrollment team to identify and place students in Bilingual program;
  • Promoting multilingual resources and services through community outreach, events, and partnerships;
  • Advocating for policies and practices that support multilingualism and inclusivity within the organization and the broader community.


Instructional Leadership
  • Developing leaders to model and coach on effective teaching practices on a campus or campuses;
  • Developing, refining, and sharing best practices and curricular resources through regular application and reflection;
  • Creating opportunities for collaboration with other Home Office teams, such as Special Populations, Elementary Academics, Teacher Development, Leadership Development, Talent and Principal Leaders, as well as campus leadership to ensure instruction and teacher support is aligned to programmatic vision;
  • Setting vision and structure for Bilingual Teacher Saturdays aligned to team priorities, teacher needs, student data, and/or content team priorities;
  • Consistently and frequently observing instruction and student output to better inform curricular practice, including serving as a coach-of-coach for campus-based instructional leaders when co-observing;
  • Designing and facilitating training for leaders and teachers;
  • Training Content Specialists and Course Facilitators to execute facilitate professional development sessions for teachers, leaders, and Home Office staff that yields effective program execution.


Program Leadership & Resource Development
  • Remaining up to date on bilingual programming requirements, including English Language Proficiency Standards, assessment for dual language and TELPAS, and best practices in language acquisition;
  • Creating and managing creation of key resources for language acquisition, setting a standard for rigorous and meaningful language instruction designed to reach all learners, leading to strong system-wide results and support implementation of these resources;
  • Working with Elementary Bilingual Content Director to build strong alignment across the Elementary Schools Team that leads to jaw-dropping results;
  • Monitoring and sharing updates to standards, pedagogy, and assessment methodology for language acquisition with your team and applicable stakeholders;
  • Curating or leading creation of curriculum for elementary EB small group instruction and language acquisition classes;
  • Managing a budget of community engagement funds and student instructional materials (e.g. books, manipulatives, supplies, etc.) to ensure that teachers, students, and families have access throughout the year to rigorous and aligned curriculum and supporting resources.


Assessment Design and Data Response
  • Creating and managing creation of aligned, effective, and valid language acquisition benchmark assessments to monitor progress towards ambitious student achievement goals;
  • Creating data reporting mechanisms to visualize student progress and drive urgent action on elementary campuses;
  • Designing data dive protocols to support staff at all levels in acting on data;
  • Creating strategies to respond to data and accelerate language acquisition;
  • Overseeing execution of strategies on elementary campuses to ensure success
  • Additional duties as assigned.

MUST HAVES
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
  • A valid Texas teacher certificate
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • A minimum of 3 years of exemplary teaching experience
  • 2 years of leadership experience
  • Skills and experience in managing a others towards results
  • Knowledge of current instruction and assessment strategies specific to language acquisition
  • Experience in language services, program development, and community outreach
  • Strong understanding of cultural diversity and experience working with diverse populations
  • Familiarity with educational and community resources related to language access and multicultural education
  • Proficiency in using technology to support language learning and communication.

THE NICE TO HAVES
  • Masters Degree
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms used in multilingual education setting is a plus
  • Experience with dual language programs

  • Compensation - This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.


  • Health and Supplemental Insurance - A $0 monthly medical option that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
