Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a Abortion and Sedation Program Manager for our Health Centers. This role is full-time, 40 hours per week. SUMMARY
The Abortion & Sedation Program Manager works in collaboration with the Abortion & Sedation Program Director, Medical Director and PAB operational leader to provide oversight of Procedural Abortion (PAB) and Sedation services, communicate updates with PAB staff, and leads quality, health equity, and abortion and sedation service expansion initiatives. The Abortion & Sedation Program Manager works directly with the Abortion & Sedation Program Director to ensure adherence of all clinical PPFA Standards and Guidelines and ensure adequate access to abortion and sedation services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ABORTION & SEDATION PROGRAM MANAGER include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Collaborates with the Training Department to provide training support for both flow coordinator and RHS training in PAB services.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge/experience with EHR & EPM systems. Knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software preferred.

The pay range for this position is: $94,000 - $134.400 annualized salary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ABORTION & SEDATION PROGRAM MANAGER include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- In conjunction with the Abortion & Sedation Program Director, leads continuous process improvement initiatives specific to abortion and sedation care for the advancement of equitable, quality, and accessible abortion and procedural services.
- In collaboration with Patient Access and PAB operational leader, maintains abortion access per affiliate goals and responds to potential increased abortion access needs with increasingly restrictive abortion access in surrounding states.
Collaborates with the Training Department to provide training support for both flow coordinator and RHS training in PAB services.
- Acts as liaison between Clinical Operations leadership and Procedural Abortion (PAB) leadership to maintain strong lines of communication and facilitate collaboration on program goals.
- Provides on-the-ground management and oversight of PAB, escalating issues directly to the Abortion & Sedation Program Director and PAB operational leadership
- Under the guidance of the Abortion & Sedation Program Director, ensures that PAB services are performed:
- In a health equitable, professional, trauma informed, and patient centered manner
- In compliance with PPFA's Medical Standards and Guidelines (MS&Gs), PPNorCal policies and procedures and State and Federal regulatory requirements
- Leads PAB initiatives for PPFA Accreditation preparation, quality improvement projects, and clinic workflow efficiency.
- Schedules and leads quarterly PAB Leaders meetings for abortion coordinators, RNs, and APCs and PAB center management.
- Conducts quarterly and ad hoc meetings with Regional Center Directors to review status and progress of PAB access, audits, initiatives, and updates.
- Disseminates PAB specific information to staff via email, Hot Flashes, training modules, and direct communication.
- Receives, processes, and elevates concerns, suggestions, and ideas for improvement in the PAB program to the Abortion & Sedation Program Director and/or Clinical Operations leadership team.
- Coaches PAB health centers in the integration and maintenance of Team Centered Patient Care (TCPC) principles and workflows to ensure patient and staff satisfaction.
- Improves patient access and experience with abortion and non-abortion sedation procedure appointments by optimizing electronic health records patient interface.
- Ensures access and structural organization for non-PAB procedures with sedation.
- Participates in RQM activities, including, but not limited to:
- Reviews PAB-related audit results including moderate sedation vitals, first trimester, and second trimester and assists the Director of Abortion and Sedation Services to lead corrective action initiatives.
- Attendance at Clinical Quality Assurance meeting and affiliate Peer Review Committee for as the abortion services liaison
- Serves as a resource on abortion services for the affiliate.
- Provides in-service presentations or support for external programs as directed by the Abortion & Sedation Program Director and Medical Director
- Attends abortion continuing education courses and conferences to stay current on best practices in the field.
- Exercises a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions with patients and staff.
- Staffs PAB clinic in flow coordinator or RHS role (80% of time) as part of the interdisciplinary care team in PPNorCal health centers with all hours health-center based.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Assist clinical team in adhering to PPNorCal Medical Standards and Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures that is patient-centered
- Work as an integral member of the outpatient clinical team utilizing detailed communication to ensure clinic and department flow is optimal.
- Maintain excellent organizational skills, a sense of responsibility and a high level of motivation.
- Work efficiently in a busy environment, often under pressure, without compromising accuracy, attention to detail, and courtesy to patients and staff.
- Document in electronic health records accurately and thoroughly.
- Maintain professional manner and patient confidentiality.
- Educate patients on sexually transmitted illnesses and reproductive/urinary tract infections signs, symptoms, etiology, and treatment.
- Educate patients on the reproductive cycle and all contraceptive method options.
- Consult with clinicians appropriately.
- Support and actively participate in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives of PPNorCal.

- Reliable automobile transportation and a valid CA Driver's License and insurance preferred.

- Minimum of two years of Planned Parenthood experience preferred.
- Prior training in PAB care, including minimum of one year of experience in direct patient care providing PAB
