The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Academic Leader, Digital Learning to join our team. This role is responsible for driving the effective integration and adoption of educational technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes. This role provides strategic leadership in developing digital learning initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation, and encouraging faculty in leveraging digital tools to improve educational outcomes. This position plays a key role in enhancing the quality of learning experiences for students by working collaboratively with faculty and academic leaders.

Note: For internal SAIT Faculty members, this position can be made available on a secondment basis, for a term that is mutually determined with your school.

The Role
    • Develop and implement a digital learning strategy in alignment with the vision of the Centre for Teaching and Learning.
    • Provide leadership in identifying, evaluating, and integrating innovative digital learning tools and platforms.
    • Collaborate with the leadership team and other team members to drive digital learning strategy and direction.
    • Guide the design and delivery of professional development programs to encourage faculty in adopting and applying digital learning technologies.
    • Ensure programs align with departmental goals and incorporate best practices in digital pedagogy.
    • Manage digital learning projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with institutional objectives.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and scale digital learning solutions.
    • Establish and maintain standards for the effective use of digital learning technologies, ensuring consistency and high-quality outcomes.
    • Monitor and evaluate the impact of digital learning initiatives on student success and engagement.
    • Propose recommendations for continuous improvement to ensure a consistent student experience.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external parties, including faculty, staff, vendors, and technology partners.
    • Advocate for digital learning initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Lead a team of direct reports, including managing staff (hiring, terminations, corrective action), setting priorities, work allocation, and vacation coverage.
    • Provide direct supervision, coaching, goal setting, conduct performance reviews, and address performance concerns with direct reports.
    • Assign projects to team members based on capacity and skill alignment.
    • Provide team members with ongoing performance feedback and support.
    • Support the team's need for escalations by identifying when such action is prudent and steering the communication and collaborations required.


Qualifications and Skills
    • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Educational Technology or a related field.
    • At least 7 years of experience in digital learning and technology integration.
    • At least 3 years of experience leading, mentoring, and supervising small teams as direct reports, as well as overseeing projects and committees.
    • Broad expertise in managing educational technologies
    • Demonstrated ability to steer cross-functional teams.
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strategic planning and project management competency.
    • Skilled in aligning objectives to tasks, milestones, and metrics.
    • Effective in defining and setting priorities.
    • Proven track record of building relationships and collaborating with others.
    • Quick to establish credibility.
    • Capable of developing and maintaining a high profile and establishing effective two-way dialogue with a range of internal and external parties.
    • Adept at managing perceptions and expectations in difficult situations.
    • Proficient in identifying and escalating risks.


Job classification: Manager

Salary range: $100,000 - 130,000

Paid Leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year
