Description:
Under supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, Department Chairs, and Program Directors, responsible for managing academic and staff personnel administration for the Hart Interdisciplinary Programs Cluster.
Direct and oversee personnel actions pertaining to academic and staff personnel including FMLA and Accommodations process. Oversee the unit's academic personnel functions, including policy interpretation and academic actions involving recruitment, research appointments, advancement, retention, change in status, and faculty MOUs.
In consultation with the CAO, direct the employment, classification, and compensation programs for staff and student personnel. Work directly with the CAO, Department Chairs, and Program Directors to determine eligibility of academic titles for merits, promotions and appraisals.
Oversee the preparation of forms and entry into the automated Payroll/Personnel system (PPS), MyInfo Vault (MIV), Aggie Job Link, Smartsite, and PeopleAdmin system. Act as back-up to the CAO on all matters regarding HR and Finance.

The Hart Interdisciplinary Programs Cluster is within the College of Letters and Science on the UC Davis campus. The cluster provides administrative support for the following departments and programs: African American and African Studies, American Studies, Asian American Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Native American Studies, and Women and Gender Studies.
The cluster also provides support to the Gorman Museum, the Cultural Studies Graduate Group and various research clusters.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Experience performing the full range of academic and staff personnel functions including policy interpretation in a higher education setting; merit and promotion; recruitment, selection and retention; classification and compensation administration; and employee and labor relations.
- Experience in analytical, budgetary, fiscal record keeping and accounting principles and practices to analyze, consult, and develop goals and plans for resolution and implementation.
- Experience utilizing standard business software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and electronic Accounting Systems to create complex word documents, spreadsheets with formulas and presentation tools.
- Experience managing projects and multiple tasks including planning and coordinating assignments, adapting to changing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.
- Knowledge of and experience applying complex policy documents, labor agreements, governmental employment requirements and regulations (e.g. Worker's Comp, ADA, FMLA, Affirmative Action) and related material.
- Problem-solving skills to resolve complex budgetary and academic payroll and personnel issues.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with UCD academic and staff personnel policies and procedures and bargaining agreements.
- Experience preparing UCD merit and promotion dossiers.
- Knowledge of and experience analyzing and interpreting UC policies and procedures relating to staff personnel, graduate and undergraduate students, Academic Senate, Academic Federation, Unit 18 personnel.
