Job Summary
The Accountant III is a senior-level position responsible for managing and executing a wide range of complex financial activities. Working under the general direction of the Finance Director, this role leads month-end close processes, financial reporting, grant accounting, and financial planning. The position also supervises grant accountants and ensures compliance with accounting standards and grant requirements.

Key Responsibilities

? Lead the month-end close process and complete monthly financial statement packages
? Prepare and review monthly journal entries and supporting workpapers
? Conduct financial analysis and investigate budget variances and trends
? Perform Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow analysis
? Maintain financial dashboards, ratios, graphs, and executive summary tables
? Manage Adaptive software for financial planning and reporting
? Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
? Reconcile general ledger accounts including fixed assets, bank accounts, prepaid accounts, and deferred revenue
? Assist CFO and DOF with budget preparation and review processes
? Conduct revenue enhancement and expense forecasting analysis
? Provide financial analysis for federal UDS and state OSHPD reporting
? Support strategic business analysis for new and existing sites
? Serve as the primary fiscal contact for grant sub-recipients and funders
? Understand and ensure compliance with financial grant contract conditions
? Submit all fiscal reports and forms related to grants in a timely manner
? Set up grant source codes and prepare monthly grant management reports
? Coordinate grant budgeting for applications and renewals
? Provide supporting documentation, insurance certificates, and justifications for grant approval
? Prepare and maintain drawdown worksheets and ensure proper spend-down of federal funds
? Complete required finance reports including Expenditures and Allocations reports
? Communicate effectively with internal teams and third parties on grant-related issues
? Prepare monthly grant billing, journal entries, and related financial reports
? Assist with internal and external audits and grant-specific audits
? Support the Controller in generating financial statements
? Perform other duties as assigned
? Attend required trainings, meetings, and workshops
? Work flexible hours and overtime when necessary

Required Qualifications

? Master's Degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
? Knowledge and experience with accounting software, internet-based tools, payroll systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
? Ability to write reports and publications in a professional format
? Effective in presenting financial data to senior management and boards
? Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including use of mathematical concepts, ratios, percentages, and statistics
? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS systems such as ADP
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills
? Strong organizational and time management abilities
? Ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality
? Experience preparing clear and concise reports and financial summaries
? Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
? Understanding of HIPAA compliance and working with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications

? Experience working in community health or nonprofit organizations
