By ensuring accurate records and leading a remote team of bookkeeping experts, the Accounting Director paints a tangible picture of financial health for the businesses we serve.

Outcomes
  • Take full ownership of the bookkeeping division
    • Oversee all bookkeeping operations autonomously and deliver results without requiring daily supervision.
    • Assume end-to-end responsibility for the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of all client financials and related outputs.
  • Ensure the highest quality standards
    • Develop rigorous quality standards aligned with our core values.
    • Personally verify the highest level of accuracy across the team, ensuring error-free deliverables for clients.
  • Champion an exceptional client experience
    • Take ownership of client satisfaction, ensuring responsive, empathetic, and solutions-focused communication.
    • Meet with clients as needed for onboarding and complex bookkeeping questions.
  • Display mastery of ecommerce bookkeeping
    • Manage tasks like bill pay, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, inventory-based accounting, and sales tax for ecommerce businesses.
    • Build SOPs and training materials to advance team skills.
  • Solve complex issues independently
    • Research and master new areas to ensure any client requirements are successfully handled.
  • Ensure timely completion of deliverables
    • Ensure all client financials are sent out by the 20th of each month.
    • Build tracking systems to monitor progress and resolve bottlenecks proactively.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team
    • Collaborate on hiring and perform regular performance reviews.
    • Model expertise and mentor team members in advanced bookkeeping practices.
  • Advance ecommerce expertise
    • Stay updated on trends and changes to improve team performance and client outcomes.
  • Drive systems literacy and process improvement
    • Demonstrate mastery of project management tools and continuously document and refine processes.

Competencies
  • Relevant experience and expertise: Bachelor's degree in accounting (or equivalent) and 5+ years of proven success, particularly in ecommerce bookkeeping.
