We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Accounting/CFO with a proven track record of success in managing complex financial operations, providing strategic financial guidance, and leading high-performing teams. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting and tax principles, and the ability to provide expert consultation on capital structure, mergers & acquisitions, and succession planning to our client partners across various industries. The Director will partner with leadership to facilitate growth and success.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
- Client Financial Leadership: Drive a cross-functional focus on client financial outcomes, value, and experiences. Develop and implement initiatives to improve client financial outcomes and enhance operational practices. Communicate the importance of a sound delivery model to improve performance and provide a competitive advantage. Align the delivery culture with the financial success of the client and the company.
- Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, lead, motivate, and retain a high-performing accounting/CFO organization.
- Strategic Financial Management: Oversee accounting and reporting functions, provide consultation on capital structure, offer mergers & acquisitions advisory support, manage cap table management, and provide succession planning consultation. Define a model for scaling functions cost-effectively.
- Client Relationship Management: Engage directly with CEOs, executive teams, boards, and owners on financial matters, acting as a trusted advisor. Support the partner ecosystem by providing high-level advisory services.
- Operational Excellence: Operationalize a seamless client financial journey focused on client value. Create proactive, repeatable processes and playbooks. Improve efficiency by driving productivity, increasing automation, and enhancing self-service. Champion cross-functional initiatives to maximize financial performance. Leverage technology to create digital capabilities and automation. Demonstrate operational excellence with a metrics-driven, results-driven approach.
- Risk Management & Reporting: Define early risk and health indicators for clients and internal staff. Monitor clients and internal staff for at-risk situations. Resolve escalated issues. Prepare written reports and summaries for executive management and boards.
- Business Acumen: Act as the learning engine of the business, infusing the voice of the client. Have a strong understanding of market segment complexity and nuances, and develop tailored client financial lifecycle strategies.
- Partner Strategy: Create a comprehensive partner strategy including identification, onboarding, certification, and measurement.
- Professional Development: Contribute to ongoing Subject Matter Expert (SME) programs.
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and/or tax operations.
- Expert empathy skills with high emotional intelligence.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to interpret client needs and translate them into actionable strategies.
- Client-centric approach with a deep understanding of client service, client experience, and client success.
- Advanced business experience with the ability to develop and implement strategies, guidelines, and objectives.
- Strong analytical and goal-oriented mindset with expert-level people and project management skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., CRM, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- CPA preferred.
- Solid working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement presentation.
- Expertise in various financing transactions.
- Ability to effectively manage people in a remote environment and make high-level decisions.
- Excellent time management skills and flexibility.
- Extensive knowledge across various industries.
