What You'll Do:

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, talented and growing organization as an Accounting Manager. This role will primarily be responsible for managing the month-end close process, managing aspects of the general ledger and ERP system, ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and other frameworks, supporting audits, and other ad hoc projects. A successful candidate will be highly motivated, have strong leadership and communication skills, and a willingness to learn and take on a variety of assignments. This role provides an opportunity for professional growth as Kailera continues to evolve and mature.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accuracy of financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies and procedures
  • Perform monthly and quarterly close procedures, including preparing/reviewing journal entries and preparing/reviewing balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies and procedures
  • Oversee and review the bank reconciliation process, fixed asset module process and other close-related processes such as Prepaid Expenses, Accounts Payable, Accrued Expenses), etc.
  • Prepare Research and Development, Clinical, and Manufacturing activities related to the monthly and quarterly close process
  • Perform balance sheet and income statement variance analyses for related responsible close areas
  • Assist with the maintenance of the general ledger, including account, department and project coding
  • Manage, mentor and provide feedback to a direct report
  • Support the finance team in coordination with external auditors for both financial statement audits and internal control testing by providing appropriate documentation and resolving inquiries
  • Work collaboratively, within finance, cross-functionally and with vendors, to achieve monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc deliverables
  • Work collaboratively, both within finance and cross-functionally, to support the development and maintenance of an effective system of internal controls
  • Support the finance team and the company with various analyses and ad hoc projects
  • Assist with special projects, such as system implementations and business process improvements, as necessary


Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Strong computing skills, including experience with commonly used Financial Systems (e.g. NetSuite)
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, including U.S. GAAP
  • Experience managing a direct report and/or working in a matrixed environment
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively and building strong working relationships
  • Embraces flexibility and maintains a personable, team-oriented approach
  • Skilled in managing diverse tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Committed to upholding integrity, confidentiality, and professional skepticism
  • Experienced in identifying inefficiencies, proposing solutions, and driving positive change
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities with a strong attention to detail
  • Experience or eagerness to be part of a fast-growing organization and to make a positive impact
  • Willingness to 'build the plane while flying' and comfort with ambiguity


Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA license
  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is preferred
  • Background in public accounting is preferred
  • Experience in a SOX compliant company is preferred
  • Experience with Research and Development, Clinical and / or Manufacturing accruals is preferred


Education:
  • Bachelor's and/or Masters' degree in the field of Accounting, Finance, or Business

At Kailera, we are committed to fostering an inclusive culture. How we treat our people is reflective of this commitment. We share the pay range for this particular role with the actual base salary depending upon factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, market factors, and experience.

Salary Range

$110,000-$140,000 USD
