JOB TITLE: Accounting Manager

Department: Finance

Reports to: Controller

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: In Office; Atlanta, GA (First 90 days in-office, then hybrid: 3 days per week in-office)

SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager is a key financial leader responsible for driving financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic planning in a fast-growing organization. This role will be instrumental in establishing strong financial controls, managing cash flow, optimizing reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Accounting Manager will also collaborate closely with leadership to support business expansion, enhance financial efficiency, and implement best practices that scale with the company's rapid growth.

To ensure a smooth onboarding process, the first 90 days of this role will be fully in-office at our Atlanta, GA location. After this period, the role transitions to a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office per week).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manage the accounting team responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
  • Recruit, hire, and conduct performance evaluations for accounting and financial staff.
  • Identify and address training needs for both new and existing team members.
  • Foster a positive work environment to maintain low employee turnover through development opportunities and regular performance reviews.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establish and enforce internal controls for accounting transactions, budget preparation, and financial compliance.
  • Oversee cash flow operations, payroll processes, and treasury functions to ensure financial stability.
  • Manage the preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company goals.
  • Ensure financial reporting complies with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide financial analysis to support capital investments, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements while identifying opportunities for operational efficiency.

Key Success Metrics
  • Ensure financial transparency and accuracy in all reporting, providing timely and comprehensive financial data for senior management.
  • Successfully manage and forecast cash flow and payroll operations to maintain financial health and support company expansion.
  • Improve operational efficiency by implementing best practices in financial processes and reporting.
  • Develop and retain a highly skilled accounting team, ensuring low turnover and professional growth.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of management and supervisory experience required
  • Experience with accounting and tax preparation software required
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software required
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role operates in a professional office setting, requiring extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer use. Occasional movement, bending, reaching, and light lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be needed. Visual acuity is required for computer-based tasks and document review.
