Job Description
The Manager of Accounting is responsible for driving internal reporting activities and financial reporting processes related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Control, and Sales Audit related to our retail business. You will ensure compliance with internal controls; SOX compliance and developing processes that meet business needs across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly income statements and expense reporting, present to department leaders with areas of improvement and confirmation of accuracy
- Review/analyze the monthly financial results and prepare variance analysis, as appropriate or requested
- Ensures timely payment of all periodic expenditures by exercising independent judgment and discretion according to GAAP regarding whether costs should be accrued, deferred, or expensed
- Knowledgeable of end-to-end processing requirements for processing invoices and recording payments, including purchase order and non-purchase order accounts payable processing
- Oversee the end-to-end cost accounting process to ensure proper inventory costing within the Company's inventory management system, consisting of the monthly/quarterly closing process including review and/or preparation of all inventory- and manufacturing-related journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational innovation and regularly interact with business owners and senior level management on accounting matters
- Work with external vendors on resolution of complex measurement and production accounting issues and discrepancies.
- Provides accounting assistance to organization; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs
- Prepare ad-hoc assignments, business projections/forecasts and special projects with limited direction

Qualifications
Qualifications - 5 - 7+ years' public/private US GAAP experience, knowledge of monthly close required. 5+ years of general accounting experience. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. MBA, CPA, or CMA is a plus. ERP Systems (NetSuite) experience preferred. Retail or Wholesale experience preferred
Physical Requirements - Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Required to stand and walk; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; differentiate colors. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages and other items up to 25lbs, and to walk short distances.
