Caterpillar's Oil & Gas and Marine Division has an exciting position open as Accounting Manager for SPM Oil & Gas. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the SPM Oil & Gas Western Hemisphere organization by managing the financial planning and analysis activities. This position interacts with and presents to the SPM WH CFO, SPM WH leadership team, and many other internal customers.

Caterpillar's Oil & Gas and Marine Division has an exciting position open as Accounting Manager for SPM Oil & Gas. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the SPM Oil & Gas Western Hemisphere organization by managing the financial planning and analysis activities. This position interacts with and presents to the SPM WH CFO, SPM WH leadership team, and many other internal customers.
What You Will Do:
- Manage all aspects of the accountable analysis, insights, and financial reporting of the business on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis for SPM Oil & Gas
- Present and effectively communicate results to leadership
- Coordinate the consolidation of forecasts and closing deadlines to ensure deliverables are met for business unit reporting
- Drive improvements and efficiencies in financial analysis & reporting processes in alignment of our Global Finance Strategy and SPM Finance Transformation
- Overseeing and evaluating the activities of the accounting staff, and providing for their professional development; analyzing and solving accounting problems.
Desired Skills:
- Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and/or 5 years equivalent experience
- Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
- Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
- Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Familiarity with Syteline, SAP, PowerBI, Snowflake, and / or OneStream
- Previous experience in FP&A and / or consolidations
- Ability to take an enterprise point of view and lead with our Values in Action
- Initiative, good judgement, effective organization skills, and accountability
- Ability to partner with peers and leadership
