Job Responsibilities
- Oversees, monitors, and instructs courses in new employee training curricula, agency orientation, correctional officer basic training,
- Annual mandatory institutional in-service, supervisory training programs, in-service courses and specialized training courses.
- Research and design lessons/e-learning, including the selection and organization of content, testing and evaluation methods and materials to accomplish the learning objectives.
- Completes formal evaluation of all training;
- Compile and submit training rosters and training evaluation summaries to the training academy; and submit monthly training report and the completion of end of class reports and statistical data.
- Coordinates/develops/conducts specialized training requests.
- Coordinates and/or conducts program management, i.e., program guidance recommendations, policy development/revisions, strategic planning.
- Assist with the development of agency training plan and/or conducts agency training needs assessments.
- Develops/maintains electronic and manual systems to ensure training records are maintained to meet ACA, CLEE and all mandated consent decree requirements and/or settlement agreements.
- Ensures that a system of remedial instructions and testing is established for certified and non-certified staff who have failed/missed course(s) of instruction and monitor the implementation of that system.
- Under limited supervision, serves as official-in-charge in the absence of the division director.

- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate = 2 years, bachelor's, and above = 4 years).
- Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
