Salary Range: $85,000 - $105,000

Reports To: Superintendent
Job Summary:
The Director is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and administration of student support services, including special education, curriculum and instruction, assessment, and special projects. This position ensures the development and implementation of policies, programs, and initiatives that enhance student achievement and meet compliance requirements. The Assistant Superintendent collaborates with district and school leadership to promote an inclusive and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Special Education:
  • Oversee all aspects of special education programs and services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations (IDEA, ADA, Section 504).
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
  • Collaborate with principals, teachers, and special education staff to support inclusive practices and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for special education staff.
  • Monitor and analyze data related to student performance and program effectiveness.
  • Provide training for paraprofessionals to ensure consistency of best practices in all educational settings.
Curriculum & Instruction:
  • Guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of district-wide curriculum initiatives to ensure alignment with state standards and best practices.
  • Support the integration of differentiated instruction and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and teachers to provide professional development opportunities that enhance instructional practices.
  • Ensure instructional resources meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities and English language learners.
  • Provide leadership to instructional coaches and monitor program effectiveness across all grade levels.

Assessment & Accountability:
  • Oversee the development and administration of assessments to measure student learning and program effectiveness.
  • Analyze and report student performance data to inform instructional decision-making and policy development.
  • Work with district and school leadership to establish data-driven goals for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal assessment requirements.
Special Projects & Strategic Initiatives:
  • Lead and support initiatives that enhance student learning and district operations.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to support student services.
  • Identify and apply for grants and funding opportunities to support student programs.
  • Stay informed of current trends and research in education, student services, and policy changes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, or related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Valid administrative certification as required by the state.
  • Minimum of five years of leadership experience in education, including experience in special education and curriculum development.
  • In-depth knowledge of special education laws, curriculum design, assessment practices, and instructional strategies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, families, and community partners.
  • Experience managing budgets, grants, and compliance reporting.
Work Environment & Expectations:
  • Full-time, administrative position with district-wide responsibilities.
  • Some travel required between schools and external meetings.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work for meetings and special events.
