Job Description

Purpose:

The Administrator for Radiology and Cardiology Services is responsible for oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of the departments across the health care setting. Formulates and institutes effective strategies and policies that focus on cost-effective health care services, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and service delivery. Assesses and develops and implements plans for departmental safety and training guidelines, departmental operations and processes, leading to improved patient experience, outcomes, volume and revenue.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Administrator for Radiology and Cardiology Services is charged with and responsible for:
Directs the overall day-to-day operations of the departments in partnership with clinical and nonclinical staff and is accountable for operational excellence and delivery of quality services.
Monitors the effectiveness of the department's activities and departmental quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with all required protocols and regulations. Establishes annual goals, identifies current problems affecting the quality and timeliness of service, and leads service and process improvement initiatives utilizing cost-effective solutions and enhancements.
Partners with senior leadership, clinical staff, and other key stakeholders to define the operational plan for the department ensuring alignment with the System's mission, values strategic pillars and business goals.
Conducts ongoing review of existing radiology and cardiology policies and standard operating procedures to identify gaps or discrepancies and implement revisions, as necessary, to support quality control and risk management.
Monitors, compiles and reviews departmental safety data and presents key findings to the Radiation Safety Officer and other appropriate parties and collaborates with staff to create strategies and recommendations for interventions and appropriate control measures.
Investigates patient safety incidents and makes reports to the appropriate local, state, and federal public health and regulatory agencies.
Prepares and/or actively participates in the development of the radiology and cardiology fiscal year budget and allocation of funds. Ensures operations run within budgetary guidelines, reviews budget requests for radiology services and monitors all radiology expenses and purchases.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Holds and maintains a certification from one (1) of the following issuing bodies: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or Radiology Certified Coder (RCC); and,
2. Associates degree from an accredited college or university; and,
3. Five (5) years of satisfactory radiology experience in a hospital or health care setting, four (4) years of which must have been in a responsible administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity; or,
4. A satisfactory equivalent of education, training, and experience.
NOTE:
All candidates must meet the eligibility requirements for the Certified Radiology Administrator exam given by the Radiology Administration Certification Commission.
