ADMS Advanced Applications and DERMS Engineer / Computer Analyst

Job Description:
This position is part of the application team which provides support for, testing of, and project development of ADMS Advanced Applications and DERMS.
The Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is a platform that integrates various functions such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Outage Management System (OMS), and the as-switched map to better support the management of the distribution grid. The Advanced Applications suite of tools enables smart grid technology, including:
Fault Isolation and Service Restoration (FISR) which automatically evaluates switching options and implements plans to restore customers during an outage.
Fault Location which runs short circuit studies to locate faults to direct line crews.
Power Flow which allocates loads from real-time SCADA measurements, identifying overloaded segments and voltage violations.
And much more.
This Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) is a platform which will orchestrates renewable generation on the electric grid, including:
Forecast both electric generation and demand.
Develop and implement mitigation plans for any forecasted issues.
Issue controls to various energy resources across the grid.
And much more.
Candidates should have a sound understanding of the design and operation of the distribution system and want to be on the cutting edge of technology. This position will be filled at a level E3 -E6 depending on the successful candidate's education, experience, and skills.

Job Responsibilities:
Work as part of a team of subject matter experts to design and implement functionality in both ADMS and DERMS.
Coordinate with the software vendor to troubleshoot issues and test potential fixes.
Perform testing and debugging of the ADMS and DERMS and their components. This will include utilizing Mantis and Q Test. Mantis is the PD Technology GE tracking for bugs and issues. Q Test is an in-house application used to test current and new releases of the ADMS product from GE.
Provide technical support to all DCC employees and field employees that use the product, including soliciting feedback and use cases on functionality.
Document and update ADMS system design, configuration, operation, and maintenance.
Provide oversight and direction for PDT projects and implementation of new technologies.
Apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maintain a reliable 24x7 critical grid management system.
Maintain high standards of application quality within the team by establishing good practices and cyber security standards.
Work at the Southern Company level to implement a standardized ADMS and DERMS experience across the electric utility operating companies.

Job Qualification Requirements:
4-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Math or related degree preferred.
Experience with switching or working in the Distribution Control Center or Transmission Control Center is preferred.
Experience with distribution or transmission planning is preferred.
