Position Summary
The Department of Neurological Sciences (DONS) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is recruiting a full-time neuropsychologist with specialized training and experience in epilepsy. The position includes a faculty appointment within the Department with rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This primarily clinical position will involve pre-surgical neuropsychological evaluations and Wada assessments with adults with epilepsy, as well as general adult and geriatric neuropsychological referrals from Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuro-Oncology, Psychiatry, Primary Care, and Solid Organ Transplant teams. Opportunities to specialize and/or work with broader clinical populations exist, depending on the neuropsychologist's clinical interests. The neuropsychologist will additionally contribute to the UNMC academic mission through teaching and supervision of neuropsychology trainees and medical residents/fellows, and if desired, through involvement in interdisciplinary research opportunities offered within the Department.
The neuropsychologist will join a collaborative team in the DONS Neuropsychology Division comprised of five adult/geriatric neuropsychologists, two neuropsychology fellows, one practicum student, and five psychometrists. The Level 4 Epilepsy Center at UNMC includes a team of five board-certified epileptologists, nurse case managers, and social workers who work with epilepsy-dedicated neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, electrophysiologists, and neuropsychologists to provide patients with surgery-inclusive epilepsy care via an 8 bed EMU, outpatient vEEG monitoring, PET, MEG, high-resolution MRI, and ROSA technologies. Each year, the epilepsy team completes up to 20 resective surgeries and implants over 20 patients with neurostimulation devices including RNS and VNS.
Qualifications for the position include a doctoral degree from an APA/CPA-accredited program, completion of an APA/CPA-accredited internship program, and completion of a two-year Neuropsychology post-doctoral fellowship. Applicants must be licensed in Nebraska or license-eligible. Preference will be given to candidates who are board-certified or board-eligible in Clinical Neuropsychology through ABPP.
