To lead in the development and implementation of Alvin ISD's secondary gifted/talented program according to the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students; including service design, student assessment, professional development, and community/family involvement.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree from accredited university
Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of campus operations
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Have a strong commitment to gifted education
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Demonstrated ability to work well with people and evidence of positive working relationships Ability to adapt to changing situations and circumstances Is knowledgeable and understands the cognitive, social, and emotional characteristics/needs of gifted/talented students
Experience:
Five years experience as a classroom teacher
Experience with teaching GT students preferred
Leadership roles in school related projects
Salary: AP PG5 / 225 days
