The Psychiatric APRN is responsible to provide direct care to patients at the Utah State Prison, which includes facilitating social and emotional needs, supervising medication schedules and evaluating patient progress.
Successful candidates will:
- Be well-versed in patient care for a variety of different mental disabilities and dysfunction.
- Provide fast and efficient nursing care for patients located at the Utah State Prison.
- Possibly be required to deal with crisis intervention and treatment.
- Provide evidence-based individual therapy, such as cognitive behavior therapy for depression and anxiety.
- Submit to a pre-employment drug test.
- Coordinate clinical activities and follow-up.
- Communicate with others regarding inmate's/client's/patient's status and progress
- Provide consultation, makes recommendations, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions.
The ideal candidate
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the State of Utah
- Psychiatric Mental Health Certification preferred
- A Controlled Substance license and a DEA certification with no disciplinary action

Responsibilities
- Provides medical consultation in specialized areas of knowledge.
- Provides direct and/or indirect patient care oriented toward improving or maintaining health and preventing illness.
- Provides in-services for direct care staff on methods of patient care; oversees direct care staff in administering prescribed treatments.
