Manatee Memorial Hospital also offers a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for babies with special needs.

Reports to the Director of ICU and is under the general supervision of the cardiothoracic surgeons, the attending Physician of Record. The nurse practitioner is responsible for the development and evaluation of treatment plans for inpatients. The Nurse Practitioner assists in the care and management of CV surgery patients to include, but not limited to: admission history and physical, ongoing assessment, follow up, and intervention, with coordination of care for the cardiac inpatient population. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patient. Through collaborative agreements with all CV physicians, primary responsibilities include ordering, conducting, interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacologic therapies. The nurse practitioner will provide routine post procedure care to include but not limited to access site care, wound care, suture removal, coordinating and conducting pre-admission history and physical on all CV surgery patients and structural heart consults. This includes CABG, AVR, MVR, TEER, TAVR, LAAO and other surgical therapies. Actively contributes to the mission and success of the CV Surgical Center through various activities.

Job Information
  • This opportunity is for a full-time days position as an ARNP with Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Minimum 3-5 years recent Cardiac nursing related experience or Heart Valve and CV post-surgical management background preferred
  • Maintaining continuing education credits per state regulations
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise and assessment in the management of cardiac patients
  • Exhibits outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians and staff
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively, demonstrate effectiveness as a team member and team facilitator
  • Demonstrates competency in use of Patient EMR, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word, etc.
  • Ability to isolate problems, formulate solutions, and effectively facilitate/implement solutions
  • Exceptional attention to detail. Displays strong organizational, analytical, writing and presentation skills

Qualifications

  • Current and active State of FL Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License that includes prescriptive privileges certified by the AANP or the ANCC
  • Master's degree or greater. Graduate from an ANA accredited School of Nursing. Graduate of Nurse Practitioner program with MS degree
  • Maintain current Certifications by AHA in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) is required
  • DEA required within 6 months of employment
