The Role:

This position provides primary acute and preventative medical care to students at Central Washington University. This clinic is accredited through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. within a multi-disciplinary team format. Provides medical care to patients that includes performing examinations, determining diagnoses and planning/implementing treatment and when appropriate referrals. These duties are provided within the scope of care under their state license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. This position takes direct responsibility for all health care provided, with the medical director available for physician consultation and backup. Job Duties

Medical Provider Duties:
- Completes and records patient's accurate medical history and physical exam.
- Examines patients and diagnosis their illnesses; recommends and administers routine treatment; refers patients when appropriate to other medical specialists.
- Establish a diagnosis and prescribe medications.
- Orders and/or performs diagnostic tests and evaluates results.
- Prescribes medication and/or treatments as indicated.
- Fully documents patient work in Medicat (EMR).
- Facilitates appropriate referrals to Counseling Services Staff.
- Communicates and collaborates with Counseling Services Staff regarding shared patients/clients, participating in Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings
- Performs minor surgical procedures, including administration of local anesthesia.
- Performs orthopedic procedures for the purpose of examining injuries, ordering x-rays, interpreting results, casting and splinting and making referrals.
- Maintain professional working relationships with co-workers, including Health & Wellness Division Staff.
- Works collaboratively within the medical team.
- Participates fully in AAAHC accreditation process.
- Active participation and leadership in Quality Improvement Program.
- Maintains current licensure to practice, including timely completion of required continuing medical education.
- Engages in productive conflict resolution and/or problem-solving surrounding treatment planning, caseload and scheduling.
- Schedules and provides training, and precepts other staff.
- Provides feedback to medical director regarding staff.
- Instructs, supervises, and consults with nurses, technicians and personnel in providing medical and nursing care.
- Functions as a lead provider in directing patient care for nursing, lab and other medical personnel.
- Assists and provides training/education to other medical staff.
- Develops and prepares reports, and needs assessments, and other quality of care studies.
- Acts as a liaison with other community health/medical agencies/other departments on CWU Campus and within Student Success.
- Attends and participates in Clinic and staff conferences/meetings, working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Works with appropriate office staff to ensure medical insurance credentialing is current at all times.
- Participates in continued professional development and independent or collaborative clinical study to publish in peer reviewed journal and/or electronic public platform.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Have current credentials that would allow candidate to obtain a valid Washington State license to practice as an Advanced Registered Family Nurse Practitioner, and a valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse by start date.
  • Eligible for acceptance as required by the AAAHC accreditation requirements.
  • Current board certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Unencumbered license status and eligible to practice in the State of Washington.
  • Current Healthcare Provider Basic CPR Certification.

  • Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences.
  • 2+ years' experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Prior to employment, newly hired medical providers will be required to complete and meet eligibility for the National Practitioner Data Bank.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing direct medical care in an ambulatory setting with diverse populations.
  • Experience working in a college or university health center.
  • Experience in the provision of health services to a college age population.
  • Experience in primary care in women's health, and/or sexual health.
  • Experience performing minor procedures and suturing.
  • Experience in evaluating and treating mental health disorders, including prescribing SSRIs, antipsychotics, and mood stabilizers.
  • Experience in prescribing gender affirming hormone therapy.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team that includes behavioral health services.
  • Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote inclusion.
  • A record of promoting inclusivity in the work environment.
  • Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into everyday conversations.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary : This position is based on the range 80N of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $111,684 and maximum annual salary of $183,048 . In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Schedule/Appointment : Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) / 40 hours per week with reduced hours during summer session and breaks/ 8-month cyclic appointment / PSE Bargaining Unit 3

Working Conditions : Work will involve assisting patients who may need to be moved from standing to sitting or lying down, positioning patients for medical procedures, and x-rays. In emergencies, the person may be required to assist lifting and positioning for safety of patients and perform CPR. Work occurs in an integrated medical and counseling facility where potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases may occur. This individual will maintain appropriate immunizations and institute all standard medical safety precautions.
