Job Title: Registered Nurse

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM; Call may be required
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum years of experience as a registered nurse
License: Active Alaska Nursing License
Certifications: Flu Vaccination
Must-Have: X-Ray experience preferred
Job Description:
- Provide professional nursing care to patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, including after-hours urgent/emergent care.
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver comprehensive nursing care that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs of patients and their families.
- Demonstrate the initiative and ability to work independently on various tasks, especially during periods of low patient load.
- Quickly identify life-threatening situations and effectively coordinate all aspects of patient care.
- Make daily decisions affecting patient access and delivery of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, primary health care providers, and support services.
- Function independently, maintaining good judgment in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Develop and implement care plans in conjunction with primary care providers, based on patient assessments.
- Document observations, nursing interventions, health teaching, and coordinated activities between nursing and other disciplines.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise care plans as necessary.
- Administer therapeutic measures ordered by a physician or qualified healthcare provider, within the scope of practice and department protocols.
- Operate specialized medical equipment and demonstrate correct utilization of computer-based health information systems.
- Perform triage of patients requesting non-routine clinic appointments and provide appropriate advice or direction.
- Maintain a safe, aseptic environment and conduct sterile procedures.
- Manage equipment and adequate levels of medical and nursing supplies.
- Identify safety concerns and take prompt corrective action.
- Provide weekend, on-call, and secondary coverage for laboratory functions, including phlebotomy, testing, documentation, and specimen shipping.
- Assume respiratory therapy responsibilities, such as pulmonary function testing and oxygen therapy.
- Assist with radiology functions, including registering, editing, taking, transferring, and documenting x-rays.
- Occasionally serve as a case manager, assisting the referral care coordinator and establishing care plans with the provider.
