Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Specialty: Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) Job Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Certifications: Epic experience required Must-Have: - Recent Trauma Level One Experience- Competency with EVDs, bolts, and ICP management- Experience with trauma and complex surgical patients- 1.5 years of 600+ bed academic hospital experience or 2 years of total (traveling + permanent) experience Job Description: - Provide specialized care to critically ill adults (aged 14 and older) in a 30-bed intensive care unit.- Care for patients with conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, hemodynamic instability, and failure to wean.- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and intensive monitoring.- Manage treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring.- Use skills in ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, massive blood transfusion, among others.- Support on-unit procedures such as placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains, and others.- Must pass a competency test within 48 hours of submission.
