Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum 2 years required; 1.5 years in a 600+ bed academic hospital or 2 years of total experience (traveling + permanent) License: State license required (willing to review candidates with pending license) Certifications: Competency test required within 48 hours of submission Must-Have: - Epic experience - Competency with external ventricular drains (EVDs), bolts, and intracranial pressure (ICP) management - Experience with trauma and complex surgical patients Job Description: - Provide specialized care to critically ill adult patients (14 and older) in both the Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Units.- Care for patients with conditions including major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ failure, hemodynamic instability, and failure to wean.- Conduct comprehensive physical assessments, intensive monitoring, treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring.- Utilize skill set including ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion.- Support on-unit procedures such as placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, and pigtail drains.
