Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: ICU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Must hold a valid nursing license Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: - Epic experience - Recent Level 1 trauma experience - 1.5 years in a 600+ bed academic hospital or 2 years of total experience (including traveling and permanent positions) - Competency with EVDs, bolts, and ICP management - Trauma and complex surgical patient experience Job Description: - Provide specialized care to the critically ill adult patient population aged 14 and older in a combined Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit. - Manage and monitor life-threatening conditions related to major elective and emergency surgical procedures, multi-trauma, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure, and hemodynamic instability. - Perform comprehensive physical assessments and intensive monitoring, including treatment of laboratory values, ventilator management, and hemodynamic monitoring. - Utilize skills such as ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters, brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG, intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output, mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusions. - Support on-unit procedures including placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains and ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy, abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains, and others.
