Job Description: Anesthesia Assistants participate in the care of the surgical patient through medical directives under the supervision of the Anesthesiologist. This position receives direction from the Manager, Operating Room.

Education
- Current registration or eligibility for registration in the province of Saskatchewan as a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse with critical car experience (preferred)
- Anaesthesia diploma (DA)
Licenses
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certificate (PALS)
- Maintains current certifications for endotracheal intubation, peripheral venous cannulation, blood salvaging, arterial cannulation, drug preparation and administration
Competencies
- Communication skills
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team
- Self-motivation and the responsibility to ensure the standards of quality assurance parameters are met
- Ability to prioritize duties according to the situation
- Ability to maintain composure during periods of high stress
- Provides clinical assistance to Anesthesiologists after normal operating hours and on-call basis
- Adjust therapies as directed.
