The basic responsibility of this position is to provide veterinary health care services to laboratory animal populations under supervision of Animal Resources Veterinarian or Senior Animal Health Technologist.

Duties & Responsibilities
Conducts preventive medicine program (in processing physical examinations, disease control and surveillance programs, dental prophylaxis)
Maintains and operates aseptic surgical suite, including provision of peri-operative care of surgical patients, including induction and maintenance of anesthesia.
Conducts animal health rounds and communicates all abnormalities to an Animal Resources Veterinarian
Collects specimen and submission of samples to diagnostic laboratory for analysis
Participates in-service training and directed workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge base
Provides training on animal care and use procedures
Assists in the development of standard operating procedures and work processes
Complies with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies

Requirements

Technologist II
Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in veterinary animal health technology or equivalent program
3 years experience as a veterinary technician in a research or pharmaceutical setting
AALAS certification at LAT Level
Prior GLP experience is desirable

Technologist III
Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in veterinary animal health technology or equivalent program
Licensed/Registered Veterinary Technician with 3 years practical experience as veterinary technician or 7 years' experience as a veterinary technician in a research or pharmaceutical setting
AALAS certification at LATg Level
Prior GLP experience is required

Both levels
Must be able to work scheduled weekends and holidays and on occasion, off-hours if required.
The incumbent must lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including uniforms, respiratory, eye, hearing, hand and foot protection.
Working knowledge of animal welfare regulations and medical terminology
Proficient in veterinary anesthesia and dental hygiene procedures, experience with non-human primates and applicable species desired.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work well in a team environment; exhibits time management and organizational skills.
Must be proficient with Microsoft applications

Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older

Compensation Data

This position offers a base salary typically between $75,000 and $122,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
