The Animal Services Division in the City Moreno Valley is now hiring for the next best Animal Services Field Supervisor.

THE POSITION
The Animal Services Field Supervisor oversees and coordinates the work of staff involved in animal care within the shelter and animal control field operations. This role ensures that all activities align with City policies and legal requirements while collaborating with other divisions, external agencies, and the public. The supervisor is tasked with scheduling, supervising, and monitoring field activities with considerable autonomy, ensuring efficient and humane animal control operations, and contributing to the development and achievement of departmental goals and objectives.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for the Animal Services Field Supervisor position will possess comprehensive knowledge of state, county, and city laws, ordinances, and regulations regarding animal care and control. They should demonstrate expertise in animal behavior, common diseases, and safe handling procedures, including the use of remote chemical capture and euthanasia. Strong leadership and supervisory skills are essential, with the ability to plan, organize, and evaluate the work of staff, provide coaching, and foster a positive, customer service-oriented work environment. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to represent the City in public and professional settings are crucial. The ideal candidate will exercise sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with complex issues, ensuring compliance with policies and promoting the humane treatment of animals. They will also have the capacity to improve service delivery, identify resource needs, and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and six years of progressively responsible animal control or care experience, at least one year of which was in a lead capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Successful completion of the California State Humane Academy or the National Animal Control Association Academy Level I or equivalent.
PC 832 (POST) certification.

Ability to obtain certification in remote chemical capture and humane euthanasia within six months of date of hire
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Animal Services Field Supervisor is the supervisory class in the Animal Control series. The incumbent is responsible for scheduling, supervising and monitoring field animal control activities, ensuring they are carried out in accordance with City policy and all applicable legal requirements. Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and guidelines.
