Description:
As an API Platform Engineer, you will directly contribute towards the API modernization initiative under DPE which is going to look at different aspects of API development and deployment in PayPal Inc with a goal of enhancing our entire fleet of tools/techniques to cut API development and approval times and significantly accelerate how quickly new features reach the market. You will use your years of technical expertise to help streamline our API integrations and SDLC process.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelors or masters degree in computer science or computer engineering
7+ years of relevant experience in backend development.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and adapt quickly to new technologies.
Excellent programming skills in Go or Java.
Proven track record of building modern, resilient, and operationally efficient backend systems adhering to industry standards (HTTP, REST, microservices architecture, etc.)
Knowledge of web and reverse proxies and a strong understanding of L7 routing for traffic management.
Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, Splunk) and experience in monitoring production systems and resolving issues swiftly.
Good experience with Git and collaborative code management.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Preferred experience in Kong plugin development using Lua, and familiarity with package managers like LuaRocks.
