Position Type/Hours:

Full-time, in office position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Position Purpose:

The Applications Engineering Manager will lead a dynamic team of application engineers responsible for guiding clients through solution design, implementation, and optimization. In this role, you will employ strong strategic planning skills, ensuring solutions align with both customer requirements and specifications. The position requires proven negotiation and closing abilities that will be critical in driving successful deal finalizations and fostering lasting partnerships. This position demands a blend of technical skills, leadership, and business aptitude to support growth and differentiation in a competitive market.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop strategic plans for customer solution implementations, including scope, resource allocation, timelines, and prioritization.
  • Lead and mentor a team of application engineers, promoting professional growth through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that values innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Prioritize workloads, ensure resource availability, and maintain a balanced distribution of responsibilities.
  • Leverage strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms during pre-sales activities, working closely with sales and product teams to address technical and commercial concerns.
  • Encourage team members to build and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and vendors.
  • Identify technical barriers and focus the team to eliminate them.
  • Track and report on deal progress, ensuring accuracy in forecasting and identifying opportunities for acceleration.
  • Continuously review and refine engineering application processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and improve close rate.
  • Implement best practices for documentation, knowledge transfer, and technical support.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leading Sales Engineering or Technical Sales team(s), ideally in manufacturing
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and customer-focused mindset.

Position Type, Work Environment & Travel
  • Full-time exempt position - 40 hours per week minimum.
  • Normal office environment with potential for travel to client sites as required.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
