Scope of Position: Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President, the Area Director (AD) will be responsible for providing both clinical and administrative supervision to the management teams delivering services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The AD is expected to be an active team member and leader at all assigned locations. Additionally, the AD will serve as Acting Director when needed and will act as a central liaison with government entities, as well as the Administration and Facilities department at The Bridge. As the department expands, the Area Director will play a key role in new program start-ups, including the development of policies and procedures. Flexibility is essential, as the AD will be required to work across multiple locations and adjust their schedule as necessary.

Essential Position Functions:
  • In conjunction with the AVP/VP/SVP/CPO, monitor the appropriateness and quality of client care standards, ensuring compliance with agency and OMH, DOHMH, HUD McKinney, and DHS policies and procedures for Operations and Documentation, and ensure audit readiness.
  • Directly supervise program management staff. When needed, provide clinical, operational, and administrative supervision to other supervisors and residential support staff.
  • Oversee the Operations portion of the programs, including interaction with the Maintenance/Facilities department and Property Management.
  • Work with Program Directors to ensure that program supervisors and staff are up to date with all training and certification requirements.
  • Ensure the programs' implementation of Best Practices, such as Trauma-Informed Care, Client-Centered Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction.
  • Supervise personnel activities, including recruiting and hiring, shift scheduling, developing policies and procedures, staff meetings, staff training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and labor/management issues.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with neighbors, community organizations, leaders, and other providers.
  • Provide crisis intervention to clients in distress when on-site.
  • Work with Managers, Clinical Coordinators, and Clinical staff on customized client care. Attend case conferences on-site for clients and in the field for clients receiving services at community providers or hospitalized.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, clinical treatment meetings, community meetings with clients, and staff training. Represent programs in administrative meetings and serve as the point person for disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain flexibility in schedule, adjusting to assist with program needs. The position is on-call 24/7 and may require on-site responses on rare occasions.
  • Interact with the client population in a polite and professional manner while maintaining personal boundaries. Be client-centered, understanding of trauma behaviors, and able to maintain composure during crisis situations.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.


Requirements

  • MSW or Master's degree in a related field.
  • At least five years of experience serving individuals experiencing homelessness and/or individuals diagnosed with a mental illness.
  • Previous management and supervisory experience required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Stress-resistant, flexible, and a team player.
  • Open to feedback, creative, and willing to perform CPR/First Aid/AED, crisis de-escalation, and overdose prevention (Narcan).
  • Knowledge of AWARDS and Microsoft Office is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Residential Programs is required.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) and a Driver's License are a plus.
