Operations

Responsible for overseeing all ready-mix plant operations in the assigned area including the mechanical elements of the plants and the equipment.

  • Manage all aspects of multiple concrete plant sites including safety, environmental, operations, maintenance, inventory management, performance, quality, financial performance, employee relations, and plant's image and community relations.
  • Hires, manages and supervises the activities of hourly concrete plant employees.
  • Provide strong leadership, training, team building and supervision with an emphasis on safety and employee development.
  • Must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in managing the hourly workforce.
  • Develops and institutes employee recognition and motivation programs to recognize performance and increase employee satisfaction at the site
  • Work closely with the other Area Managers, Plant/Fleet Manager, & Plant Operators in the assigned area to visit customers, consolidate existing business and promote new business.
  • Identifies processes, methods and programs to maintain equipment at the lowest possible cost and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain key reports due to management weekly and monthly.
  • Responsible for the placement of mixers and other equipment for assigned area
  • Responsible for the development and approval of the labor budget for area ready mix plants within the area with ultimate responsibility for controlling the labor and costs at those plants
  • Plans and schedules production requirements (people & equipment) to support daily, weekly and monthly sales forecast to meet customer's needs
  • Visits plant sites to audit, inspect, and observe property, performance of personnel, plant and fleet equipment to ensure compliance with company policy and procedures are being followed.
  • Determine staff levels and other resource levels including mixers and other equipment for the assigned region
  • Schedule materials to maintain adequate inventory levels at all ready-mix plant locations within the region
  • Work closely with the finance department to ensure plant administration items are managed efficiently and timely. Including AP
  • Work with the Sales Manager, Credit and Collections Department to assist with A/R collections in area as requested. Keep Production Manager appraised of the situation
  • Foster a team-building environment
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints while keeping Production and Sales Managers appraised of the situation.
  • Responsible management of plant and personnel resources to ensure efficient and continuous production as deemed necessary by the production schedule.


  • Other Responsibilities

    Represent the company in industry-related organizations as deemed necessary by the Production Manager

  • Oversee the hiring and training of employees in assigned region
  • Evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors/batch personnel including timely and accurate performance appraisals
  • Investigate accidents and report the same to Safety Manager as well as the Production Manager
  • Ensure that employees are working in a safe and professional manner
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager


  • EDUCATION:

    High School Diploma

    SKILLS:

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be discreet, as position requires the handling of confidential information
  • Good computer operating skills (general windows applications)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent managerial and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude toward employees, management, customers, & vendors
  • Excellent work ethic - punctuality, accuracy, and attendance
  • Inventory Management


  • EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum of 10 years' experience in plant/ personnel Management

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    NRMCA Plant Manager Certification preferred but not required.

    RESTRICTIONS

    Must be able to drive/sit for extended periods of time, as this position requires extensive traveling

    OTHER COMMENTS

    Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary

    Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining the highest level of professionalism
