Science | Service | Sustainability
This Assistant Bureau Chief position will report to the the Bureau of Regional and Laboratory Services (BRLS) to provide leadership and oversight of regional offices managing diverse air, land, and water programs. This position will directly supervise Area Directors, ensuring efficient programmatic and administrative operations across multiple environmental programs.
Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Promote and support the implementation of the Agency's strategic plan.
Employee Performance Management: Ensure timely completion of planning stages and reviews in alignment with Agency guidelines.
Program & Personnel Oversight: Supervises and coordinates with directors, managers, and staff on administrative and programmatic functions.
Personnel , Budget & Procurement: Oversee personnel, fiscal activities, and procurement needs in collaboration with central office administration and leadership.
Technical & Administrative Management: Review, prepare, and manage technical, programmatic, personnel, and financial documents.
Stakeholder Engagement: Respond to internal and external inquiries, including permits, enforcement actions, inspections, legislative requests, and citizen concerns. Represent BRLS in professional and public forums.
Interagency Collaboration: Foster positive relationships with staff from other bureaus, communicate key program and personnel issues, and provide recommendations to the Bureau Chief.
Disaster Response: Serve as a member of the Disaster Coordination Team (DCT), supporting emergency preparedness and response efforts.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A master's degree in marine, environmental, or natural sciences, or related technical field and at least 5 years of environmental and supervisory related experience;
or a bachelor's degree in marine, environmental, or natural sciences, or related technical field and at least 6 years of environmental and supervisory related experience.

This position requires frequent overtime and travel, as necessary.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
