Title: Assistant Controller

Job Duties:
  • Oversee all aspects of the revenue and drilling process and review information captured by the Major Timesheet and Billing (MTB) program, including drilling data, invoicing, and payroll.
  • Implement and oversee document management system using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to improve workflow, regulatory compliance, document security, and standardization.
  • Provide support in the preparation of financial reports in each reporting period.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and present information explaining variances on the job cost reports, track cost, and provide relevant information for changes in General Ledger (GL) accounts.
  • Oversee and provide training on the Accounting Software, Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS) to ensure accurate book numbers and control costs.
  • Manage the cash in and outflow of the company to ensure that the daily operational funding requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Taxes, permits, and licensing requirements.
  • Perform cost analysis on the performance of diamond bits, rods and casings, and their effect on the project.
  • Manage and organize the procurement process to increase efficiency.
  • Manage overall operational and Capital Expenditure (Capex) budgets, forecasting, preparing financial statements and reports, payroll, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory control.
  • Lead all audits, including the yearly financial, 401K, and government audits.
  • Perform periodic internal audits to ensure compliance and adherence to U.S. GAAP and IFRS Accounting Standards.
  • Prepare high-level reports for the Senior Finance team, for the quarterly performance reviews, including monthly gross margins, inventory levels, and expenditure analysis per department.
  • Analyze budget components and determine forecast estimates.
  • Perform invoice processing, including control and tracking of project revenues.
  • Expense management, including design, implementation, monitoring tracking, and expenditure reports.
  • Perform cost analysis of drills, such as reverse circulation, core drilling, rotary drilling, and percussive drilling.
  • Perform analysis on the price and tendency of commodities including gold, copper, and nickel, and their effect on a project's forecast and duration.
  • Perform cost analysis of inventory, including the cost of rods, casing, diamond bits, and muds and their use in each project.


  • Educational Requirement: B.S degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related field.

    Experience Required: Five years as an Assistant Controller, Internal Auditor, External Auditor, Business Accountant, or closely related field.

    Special Requirements:

    Five years as an Assistant Controller, Internal Auditor, External Auditor, Business Accountant, or closely related field must be with a company involved in mining operations.

    Demonstrable knowledge of and prior experience in:
  • Using IFS to control costs and ensure accurate numbers on the books.
  • Implementing a document management system using ERP to improve workflow, regulatory compliance, document security, and standardization.
  • Ensuring compliance and adherence to US. GAAP and IFRS Accounting Standards.
  • Managing overall operational and Capex budgets, forecasting, preparation of financial statements and reports, payroll, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory control.

  • Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours/week. Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 pm.

    Worksite Address: 2200 South 4000 West, Salt Lake City, Utah 84120.

    Travel Requirements: Twice a year, domestic travel to go to project site for a week.
