Coastal Pacific Food Distributors (CPFD) is seeking an ideal candidate for New Position of Assistant Director in Contract Division.

Position Summary:

Learn the details of CPFD's USG Contracts and how they operate. Develop an internal knowledge of the business, the people, the company process, and procedures. Collaborate closely with the Directors and Executive Vice President to improve processes and profitability. Study company P&L statements in detail for the division assigned to. May be assigned to help to lead the management team responsible for overseeing Coastal Pacific's Contract Operations. We currently operate on several commercial subcontractor facilities and on US military bases. Serve as support for the Director and the Division. Learn distinct characteristics of the USG Agencies CPFD contracts with- DLA, DeCA, etc.

Salary and other Benefits:
  • Range of Pay: $85K to $105K/Annual

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Help to establish better SOPs for operations.
  • Help Senior Management establish business plans and budgets; manage division profitability including gross profit, inventory turns, dead stock, labor costs and all associated P&L components.
  • Understand contract administration and store merchandising, product assortment, category strategies, pricing, fill rates, and inventory levels.
  • May be involved with new contract implementations in various locations in the US & overseas.
  • Work to develop and monitor better metrics to measure costs, profitability, sales.
  • Help Division provide excellent customer service.
  • Will be involved in specific initiatives-measuring the success of those initiatives and adapting accordingly.
  • Develops and nurtures key business relationships with government officials, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Learn to plan, prepare, and presents business reviews to company executives and USG officials as needed.
  • Visits stores as necessary to observe operations, store merchandise and results of business initiatives.
  • May be involved in the recruiting, selection, training, performance management and compensation of key associates and CPFD personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Job Requirements:

    Education: A bachelor's degree in business management or related field would be preferred. In the absence of a relevant educational background, experience that is equivalent and related including management of teams is highly desirable.

    Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of leadership experience in the grocery or food distribution industry to include functional knowledge of operations, distribution, supply chain management, procurement, category management, and P&L management.

    Knowledge: The position requires a demonstrated knowledge of the food or distribution business, can include retail operations, inventory management, grocery merchandising, purchasing policies and procedures, including working familiarity with warehouse, transportation, and/or inventory management systems.

    Skills and Abilities:
    • Must be self-directed and experienced in taking initiative and making decisions, and possess strong collaboration and consensus-building skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to lead & communicate with Department and Regional managers and work collaboratively.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills and organizational skills required.
    • Presentation skills to convey information to large and small groups including executives.
    • Must be flexible and able to work through complex situations.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • PC literate must be in Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Internet.


    Travel: Willing and able to do significant travel internationally (Asia & Guam) as well as domestically and willing to work varied hours/days as business dictates for business projects when assigned.
