Job Description

SUMMARYOFDUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Director of Facilities Planning under the direction of the Senior Director, with the latitude for independent initiative and judgment, is responsible for organizing, directing, and coordinating the activities of Divisional Directors to insure the promotion of corporate policies and program.

Generaltasksandresponsibilitieswillinclude:
  • Will be responsible for all areas of Corporate Support Services including Mail Room, Print Shop/Graphics, Motor Vehicle Operation, Corporate Maintenance, Corporate Security and Maintenance/Facilities Procurement.
  • Directs, coordinates and evaluates operational programs with the Directors of Engineering at the Acute and Post-Acute care facilities.
  • Assists in the establishment of programs and policies reflecting the philosophy and objectives of the Office of Facilities Development.
  • May schedule and plan department head meetings on a set frequency basis to review operational performance.
  • Participates in the annual performance evaluations of subordinates and their professional developmental plans.
  • Provides recommendations and direction regarding proposed projects and/or other related programs.
  • Provides management and oversight of corporate OTPS budgets relative to service, repairs and supplies, PS budgets and oversees overtime hours.
  • Acts as liaison with other corporate departments to assist in providing business line related services.
  • Provides expertise in the alteration, maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanical and electrical equipment therein and a variety of equipment essential to departmental operations.
  • Provide expertise in the preparation of material take-offs from designed plans and specifications of field measurements.
  • Coordinates and conducts field visits to the facilities, engages with site clients, inspects sites and equipment and provides recommendations for operational needs.
  • Inspects specific facility-based projects and monitors progress, completion dates, financial impacts, and regulatory compliance with occupational standards, codes and specifications.
  • Responsible for managing along with site Directors of Engineering department's work order system.
  • Demonstrates competence complying with healthcare regulatory agencies such as but not limited to Joint Commission, CMS, DOH, OMH etc.
  • Responsible for monitoring along with site Directors of Engineering in the development and sustainability of Key Performance Measures (KPl's).
  • Participates in internal/external quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/Pl) activities and programs, training, and special studies, as required.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance and maintenance of the NYC Health + Hospitals policies with NYS standards and other applicable external regulatory guidelines and accreditation guidelines and standards.
  • Performs other related duties, as directed.


  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Science, Hospital Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Administrative Medicine in Public Health or a related discipline; and,
  • Two (2) years of planning, design and program development experience pertaining to the operation of a major segment or all of a hospital or health care setting including substantial exposure in meeting community health needs, health care planning, design and program implementation functions; one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible level administrative, supervisory or managerial experience in coordinating health care planning, design, development or public policy programs; or,
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Hospital Administration, Social Sciences, Management, Health Care Administration or a related discipline; and,
  • Three (3) years of experience as described in "2" above; two (2) years of which must have been in a responsible level of administrative, supervisory or managerial experience in coordinating health care planning, design, development and public policy programs.
