About the Role
As a key member of our leadership team, the Assistant Director of Specialized Schools plays a vital role in shaping the educational experiences of students in district-specialized programs. This position provides visionary leadership, operational oversight, and instructional guidance to ensure a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment for all students.
Reporting to the Director of Specialized Schools, the Assistant Director leads school operations, fosters professional growth among staff, and ensures compliance with state and federal special education laws. What You'll Do
Lead & Oversee specialized schools and programs, ensuring excellence in student outcomes and instructional effectiveness.
Foster a Positive School Climate where high expectations and student success are the norm.
Support Special Education Compliance, collaborating with teams to uphold legal and procedural standards.
Guide the IEP Processinto and out of The Academy & LIFE.
Drive Student Achievement, monitoring progress and implementing strategic instructional improvements.
Supervise & Support Staff, providing mentorship, conducting evaluations, and contributing to hiring decisions.
Enhance Curriculum & Instruction, leveraging data-driven strategies and emerging technology.
Engage with Families & Communities, strengthening partnerships and advocating for student success.
Promote Equity & Inclusion, ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education.
What We're Looking For
Presently hold a valid ISBE Professional Educators License (PEL) with an administrative and LBS endorsement.
Proven Leadership - Experience managing specialized programs, supervising teams, and driving instructional excellence.
Expertise in Special Education - Strong understanding of compliance, IEP processes, and student support services.
Strategic & Data-Driven Decision Maker - Ability to analyze student achievement and make informed improvements.
Collaborative & Relationship-Oriented - Skilled at working with educators, families, and community stakeholders.
Commitment to Equity - Passion for fostering an inclusive learning environment and disrupting inequities in education.

SALARY: Administrative Salary Range - $128,632 - $160,790 to be adjusted for 2025-26
