As the Assistant Director you will be responsible for the growth and development of student leaders, serve the Associated Students and build robust programs and systems that engage students from their first days on campus (orientation) through degree completion and celebration (graduation). The Associate Director independently performs a variety of professional-level duties with a primary focus on the development, implementation and ongoing management of personnel, programs and services designed to engage students in their educational journey. Long-Term Disability Insurance
CPTC pays for Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage with a 90-day waiting period and a maximum benefit of $240 per month. You may purchase additional optional LTD overage to supplement the Basic LTD, providing up to 60 percent of monthly salary (calculated on a maximum annual salary cap of $120,000) following a waiting period you select.

Duties and Tasks (Essential Functions)
Duty: Program Development
Tasks include:
- Oversee the development and operation of all student-lead programs and initiatives, including the Associated Students of Clover Park Technical College (ASCPTC), the Campus Activities Board, student clubs and organizations, student leadership programs, and other student sponsored events and initiatives.
- Evaluate department-level activities, initiatives and programs through data tracking, evaluation and assessment as part of continuous improvement and effectiveness.
- In collaboration with the Director, develop and assess department learning outcomes.
- Oversee the student staff, initiatives and programs offered through the Student Leadership & Service Center.
- Serve as a major contributor in the visioning, implementation and operations of the following centers:
- Recreation & Activities Center
- Computer Lab
- Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Center
- Serve as the Leadership Development Program Co-Coordinator. Responsibilities include developing topics and curriculum, identifying and booking speakers, and promoting workshops *
- Coordinate on-boarding and on-going training for student employees in leadership teams affiliated with the department, to include, but not limited to:ASCPTC Student Council, Campus Activities Board, Peer Ambassadors, Marketing, and committee members Coordinate all aspects of the annual college-wide Student Awards Ceremony in collaboration with other departments and divisions of the college.
- Develop collaborative relationships with college faculty and staff to maximize the impact of student engagement programs and initiatives.
Duty: Program Administration
Tasks include:
- Direct the work of the Student Leadership & Involvement Coordinator and Program Assistant.
- Exercise independent judgment and decision making ability within broad spectrum of responsibilities, funded programs and student personnel.
- Act as the primary supervisor for student staff questions, concerns, and conflict resolution.
- Hire, evaluate, supervise and assign work to student employees.
- Co-coordinate logistics and schedule for quarterly New Student Orientation and Week of Welcome programs.
- Direct the Student Leadership & Service Center (SLSC), which serves as a one-stop shop for all things campus life and provides many service features and sponsored activities.
- Lead the efforts to ensure that department values of civic engagement, social justice and community service are vibrant within the spectrum of department offerings.
- Serve as the department administrator in the absence of the Director.
Duty: Training and Leadership
Tasks include:
- Co-advise the ASCPTC Student Council and assist the student organization to generate and structure initiatives that support social, financial, and academic success indicators
- Design, develop and co-coordinate a comprehensive training curriculum for all student employees within the department.
- Serve as the staff representative to co-curricular programs associated with the department: Childcare Center, Learning & Tutoring Center, and Career Services providing leadership, program development consultation and budget assistance.
- Ensure that all student initiatives and data collection methods comply with state and college policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Supervise and attend student leadership conferences, and retreats as well as night/weekend events as needed.
Duty: Budget Management
Tasks include:
- In the absence of the Director, serve as the secondary budget authority for all 522-funded programs which includes over $896,127 in funds.
- Develop and oversee Services and Activities (S&A) Fee budgets associated with areas of responsibility.
- Provide budget management, planning, contract development, organization and leadership to student funded programs as needed.
- Monitor sponsored activities to ensure timeliness, deadlines, and budgets are maintained.
- Interpret college policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, ensuring compliance.
Duty: Communication Activities
Tasks include:
- Direct and maintain data records for outreach and program initiatives.
- Create marketing materials for engagement and involvement opportunities sponsored by the department.
- Develop and manage marketing campaign and materials for Student Awards Ceremony.
- Act as a liaison between student leaders, the department and other campus departments.
- Coordinate the development and distribution of the annual report for the department.
Duty: Professional Development and College-related activities
Tasks include:
- Actively participate in educational and professional activities and conferences to network, build knowledge and expand resources, including annual conferences and meetings such as Council for Unions and Student Programs (CUSP).
- Participate in regional, state and national professional organizations pertinent to the field.
- Represent the Director at specific campus meetings as needed.
- Serve on department, division, and college committees, as needed.
- Assume full management of special projects as assigned by Director.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in social sciences, education, communications or related field.
- Five years of experience working with student programs, activities and initiatives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Outstanding cultural competency with proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Demonstrated success with engaging a wide-range of constituents in diversity and social justice education, leadership in creating programs, implementing projects and assessment.
- Experience evaluating activities and program effectiveness through data-tracking, evaluations and assessment tools.
- Demonstrated experience with budget management, planning and contract development.
- Experience hiring, evaluating, supervising and assigning work to student employees.
- Experience working in a collaborative, team environment, with staff, faculty and administration.

- Master's Degree in social sciences, education, communications or related field.

There are two plans within PERS, the public employee's retirement system. In PERS 2, your retirement benefit is defined by a formula of 2% times your years of service, and contributions are subject to periodic rate adjustments by the state legislature. PERS 3 offers you an employer-paid retirement benefit based on 1% times your years of service, plus the opportunity to choose your own contribution rate (between 5 and 15 percent) and invest your contributions in a range of investment options.
