Job Description

This position has the primary responsibility for overseeing all subrecipient policy development, Subaward agreement drafting/negotiation and Subaward management. The Assistant Director of OSP collaborates with the Associate Director of Research Data & Analytics to implement and ensure data quality within OSP and will work with team of Research Administrators to implement and maintain data quality standards and processes for data collection and entry related to sponsored awards and proposals. This position exercises independent judgment in overseeing OSP office operations management with inputs from the Director of OSP, including payroll, budget, Pro-card reconciliation and website content. The Assistant Director is responsible for supervisory oversight of the Subaward Administrator and the Grants and Contracts Assistant. The Assistant Director exercises discretion in formulating and tracking appropriate department performance measures. On a limited basis, the Assistant Director will perform the functions of a Research Administrator II for one key campus unit, serving as their OSP point of contact. The position reports to the Director of OSP.

Education and Experience
  • A Master's degree in information technology, library/information science, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and at least three years of experience in a sponsored programs setting.
  • Knowledge of higher education policies, procedures and practices in sponsored research is desired as is experience working in a fast-paced, high volume environment.


Skills and Knowledge
  • This position requires exceptional attention to detail, proficiency in diverse computer applications, robust analytical and organizational aptitude, as well as solid oral and written communication skills.


Responsibilities
  • Oversees and has primary responsibility for all aspects for the University's Subaward Management enterprise; exerting discretion in drafting, negotiating and monitoring subawards with support from Subaward Administrator.
  • Assistant Director collaborates with the Associate Director of Research Data & Analytics to implement and ensure data quality within OSP and will work with team of Research Administrators to implement and maintain data quality standards and processes for data collection and entry related to sponsored awards and proposals.
  • Assistant Director provides support to the Subaward Administrator and assures compliance with the federally mandated FFATA reporting requirements.
  • Performs independently the same role as Research Administrator II for one key campus unit in each of the Office of Sponsored Programs primary function areas (including reviewing proposals and awards, negotiation and preparation of contracts/grants, etc.)
  • Exerts independent judgment in Managing the Office including payroll authorizations for the Subaward Administrator and the Grants and Contracts Assistant and provides supervision regarding budget and pro-card reconciliations.
  • Assists the Director with developing and maintaining website content.
  • Collaborates with the Director to Evaluate/Implement/Upgrade office procedures/systems to improve OSP services to stakeholders by producing and evaluating departmental performance measures.
