The Industry & Partner Solutions Team in Corporate, External and Legal Affairs (CELA) has an opportunity for you to join a team that prides itself on collaboration, learning, energy, caring, and creating wins for Microsoft and its partners and customers in the role of Assistant General Counsel. Your primary responsibility will be leading support the Global Partner Solutions (GPS) team in the Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions organization.In this global role, you will manage a team of legal professionals that provide legal support and work across all aspects of our partner sales business, including support for strategic transactions, program development, and initiative support in an increasingly complex and competitive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • You will act as the primary legal contact for the GPS team. This will involve managing key multi-faceted and sensitive legal matters, and providing counsel and actionable advice on a broad range of interdependent issues.
  • You will identify and anticipate highly complex legal issues and opportunities facing Microsoft, as well as lead the development of solutions. You'll also develop and lead strategic partnerships with outside counsel, strategically prioritize resources, and act as a key resource regarding escalation decisions.
  • You will advocate for Microsoft's interests by developing relationships with a variety of partners.
  • You will drive the adoption of new tools and processes (including AI), develop policies and best practices, and guide others to identify opportunities and tools to increase operational efficiency.
  • You will ensure a coordinated Corporate Affairs and Legal voice on high-visibility issues by leading collaboration with executive leadership. This will involve significantly improving decision making and conflict resolution by simplifying and summarizing complex issues into actionable strategies and recommendations.


Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor Degree or international equivalent degree AND 9+ years experience as a practicing attorney
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications (PQs)
  • In-house counsel experience.
  • 1+ year(s) people management experience.
  • Experience with cloud computing, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies and the related legal issues.
Legal Counsel M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $154,500 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $199,600 - $299,400 per year.
