RESPONSIBILITIES:Purpose
- Effectively ensure legal conformity and minimize probability of exposure; and
- Advise corporate and affiliate boards and representatives, and departments/staff, solicited and unsolicited, in all legal areas with an emphasis on data privacy and security. Other areas include employment law, contract law, corporate law, civil law, antitrust, internal investigations, intellectual property, marketing, tax, non-profit and charitable status requirements, dispute resolution including litigation, and international human rights law and reputational risk.
Engagement
- Responsible for continuing and updating the organizational data privacy legal strategy and execution, including oversight of compliance, all in collaboration with outside counsel as needed;
- Responsible for contract law matters including drafting, negotiating and interpreting agreements including consultancy, employment, grant, lease, services, license, vendor, and other contracts;
- Responsible for advising on employment and labor law issues as assigned;
- Responsible for corporate governance matters for RA entities and branches as assigned;
- Lead in drafting policies and training staff on data privacy matters and assist the Legal, Global Internal Compliance, and HR departments with drafting other policies and training staff;
- Collaborate and coordinate with external legal advisors/specialists/company secretaries;
- Be responsible for, in coordination with the General Counsel and the relevant staff/department contract, employment and litigation disputes;
- Assist the office of the General Counsel with ongoing projects as assigned;
- Support risk management and compliance efforts across the organization; and
- Other projects and activities as assigned.
Delivery
- Be responsible and accountable for the delivery of data privacy legal services;
- Deliver other business legal services as directed;
- Keep knowledge up to date through training and technical information by own initiative; and
- Attend relevant meetings, projects meetings, events and conferences, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualification to practice law in New York;
- 4+ years law firm and in-house experience
- Experience with global data privacy laws and security preferred, an interest in developing expertise required;
- Experience training staff and supervising the work of others;
- Experience in working with people at all levels of an organization and with outside counsel to create practical and risk-based legal solutions;
- Ability to take ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks;
- An affinity towards sustainability and corporate social responsibility;
- Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills in English required; and
- Excellent intercultural skills.

- National Salary range (Excluding NY and DC) - $81,647- $116,579
- New York Salary Range - $96,957- $138,510
- Washington DC Salary Range - $93,846- $134,066
