Summary
Under direction of the Recreation Services Manager, the Assistant Manager of Recreation Services is responsible for managing the key service operations for the assigned recreational facility(s); The Frisco Athletic Center, The Frisco Water Park, and The Grove at Frisco Commons. Responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising, motivating, scheduling, and evaluating service for the assigned service operations. Maintains and secures facilities, develops, and implements operational procedures and addresses customer complaints and issues. Prepares and monitors assigned recreational facility budgets.

The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position. Essential Job Functions & Other Important Duties

  • Manages the customer service operations of the assigned recreational facility to include hiring, coaching, mentoring, and training customer service representatives and staff and youth services staff to provide quality customer service; ensures the operation of the Customer Service division meets City of Frisco and member standards.
  • Evaluates and implements policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and productivity of the assigned Recreational Facility customer service operations.
  • Manages the customer service division budget, including both revenue and expense funds to achieve 100% cost recovery.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs staff as needed to comply with the budget and ensure procedures are established, communicated, and monitored for efficiencies. This includes processing financial transactions including payments on customer accounts, refunds, EFT processing, and analysis of existing and future expenditures.
  • Administers all customer service and youth services operating practices, policies, and systems that are necessary for achieving the division's strategic and business plan goals.
  • Promotes facility amenities, programs, and services to members and guests.
  • Performs special projects at the request of management, including research and recommendations.
  • Interacts with public and staff daily; answers inquires, addresses complaints, grievances, emergencies, issues, and assists patrons as needed.
  • Oversees facility reservation schedule and maintains event agreements and insurance.
  • Manages cash functions and implements cash management policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and schedules activities at the center and enforces center use and safety policies.
  • Manages employee schedules and division payroll as required for efficient operations and as needed to meet financial goals and policies.
  • Establishes, fosters, and maintains effective working relationships with the public, city staff, and vendors.
  • Participates as an active member of the assigned recreational facility management team.
  • Serves as Manager on Duty on a rotating schedule as needed.
  • Opens facility and/or secures facility at closing.
  • Prepares and maintains purchase orders for inventory and supplies.


Other Important Duties:
  • May work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and Holidays.
  • May need to provide CPR and First Aid and prepares incident reports.
  • Promotes Parks and Recreation programs, activities, and events through various mediums.
  • Assists and provides staff coverage in performance of assigned duties.
  • Travels to attend meetings, conferences, and training seminars.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.

Education, Experience, and Certifications/Licenses:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or related field and minimum five (5) years recreation management or administration experience, two (2) years of which is in a supervisory role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Recreation: Must obtain adult and infant CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within three (3) months from entering the position.
    • Aquatics: Must possess current American Red Cross or approved equivalent certification; Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certification, Water Safety Instructor Trainer certification, and CPR, AED, and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certification; must possess a valid Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
  • Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License.

Environmental Factors & Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed in office and recreation facility environment.
  • May be subject to exposure to air and water borne pathogens, body fluids, and infectious diseases when applying CPR, First Aid, or cleaning facilities.
