The Role

The Assistant Principal is responsible for all aspects of a specific grade level, including student outcomes, teacher development, behavior management, and family partnerships. The ideal Assistant Principal candidate will combine the ability to coach and motivate teachers as they develop capacity in instructional practices along with the capacity to be a subject matter expert on the grade level's curriculum and standards. As a member of the school leadership team, this position will play a key role in setting a positive, growth-oriented culture for the teachers they manage and the school as a whole.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Student Outcomes: Take ownership of student academic outcomes and understand that student data is a reflection of teacher quality.
  • Teacher Support & Growth: Provide intentional coaching and development for teachers, focusing on regular observations, feedback, practices, data analysis, and goal-setting.
  • Curriculum & Professional Development: Lead content and curriculum understanding through supportive planning and study sessions.
  • Collaboration & Culture: Build a strong, competent school community through collaboration with students, staff, families, and community members.
  • Leadership & School Management: Actively contribute to school leadership, representing the school to various stakeholders. Support school management tasks and foster a culture of shared responsibility and success.
  • Professional Growth: Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development through reflection, feedback, and ongoing collaboration.
  • Other Duties: Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the school and central office leadership to support the overall success of the school and network of schools.

Educational Background and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • At least 2 years of full-time, lead homeroom teaching experience with a record of high student achievement, namely proficiency and magnitude of growth.
  • Preference is given to strong homeroom teachers with experience in third through eighth-grade classrooms.
  • Evidence of improving adult instructional practices


The salary for this role is between $90,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience, along with a 20% discretionary, performance-based bonus. Additionally, Meeting Street Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package including and not limited to:
