Position Overview:

Emory University School of Medicine, Division of Physical Therapy is seeking candidates to apply for the position of assistant/associate professor. We are looking for a dynamic candidate to join our exceptional group of faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. This position is ideal for an individual with teaching expertise in higher education or post-professional residency programs with a clinical specialty in oncology, geriatrics, or pediatrics. The faculty member will play a crucial role in shaping residency education, enhancing educational experiences for residents and students, and fostering collaborative research within a clinical specialty area. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to educational excellence. The faculty position is for a 12-month appointment beginning in the fall of 2025.

Required qualifications include:
  • Candidates must hold an academic doctoral degree (PhD, DSc, EdD)
  • Eligible for Georgia licensure as a physical therapist
  • Evidence of teaching experience in their area of expertise
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience with academic or clinical teaching in higher education
  • Knowledge of contemporary teaching and learning methods
  • Evidence of scholarship with potential for curriculum development, specialty areas (i.e., geriatrics, pediatrics, and/or oncology)

Key Responsibilities:

The faculty responsibilities include collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to provide high quality and innovative educational experiences for students and residents.
  • Develop innovative teaching methods and learning strategies that foster critical thinking, clinical skills, and professionalism in trainees
  • Foster and participate in inter-professional research initiatives that address critical challenges in the care of patients within a specialty area
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the program director
