Job Description

The position will be based in either Whitehouse Station, NJ or Philadelphia, PA and supports Chubb's Financial Lines Division, a provider of D&O, EPL, E&O, Cyber, and multiple other insurance products. The Financial Lines Actuarial team is responsible for providing the financial analysis necessary for Chubb to sustain profitability and maintain a competitive position. Expect significant interaction with Underwriting and Claims, as well as contact with our Corporate actuaries, State Filings, and IT.

Duties and Responsibilities related to this position:
  • Providing pricing support for Management Liability product lines with particular emphasis on Employment Practices Liability, Directors & Officers Liability, Errors & Omissions Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Fidelity, with a focus on Financial Institutions customers.
  • Analyzing the profitability of these product lines and working closely with underwriting product managers and Claims to identify trends in the business and to develop appropriate strategies to profitably grow the business.
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate rating plans and providing actuarial support for rate filings that may be required.
  • Managing up to two actuarial analysts.Providing guidance and training to staff, and formally review Actuarial work products.
  • Participating in the annual countrywide Profitability Study, monitoring rate levels on a regular basis, and other ad-hoc projects.
  • Providing prompt responses to business requests and operational demands.
  • Contributing to the improvement, creation, and/or implementation of processes to expand capabilities, improve efficiency, and enhance effectiveness.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of P/C actuarial experience.
  • Actuarial designation of ACAS required, FCAS preferred.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with actuarial pricing and/or reserving. Experience in Financial Lines is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong project management skills to take the ownership of projects and be able to deliver high quality work products in a timely fashion, while maintaining detailed documentation.
  • Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with R, SQL and Access is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Self-confident and objective.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
