Position Summary

Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a dynamic Assistant Vice President for Administration to join our team of higher education professionals who are committed to student success. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance & Administration, the Assistant Vice President for Administration (AVPA) oversees and provides strategic direction for business services including purchasing, mail, central duplicating, receiving and auxiliary enterprise functions such as the bookstore and food services, and coordinates College risk management insurance programs, including the procurement of appropriate insurance policies, and serves as the College's risk manager. The AVP will provide oversight and supervision to direct reports. The role of AVP is a leadership position and requires excellent interpersonal skills and possess an attitude of continuous improvement and operational excellence. The AVP will identify and implement best practices for the department and will evaluate and manage performance, keeping abreast of emerging trends and bring innovation to the college. The AVP will prioritize working collaboratively throughout the College to deliver exceptional customer service.
Essential Functions

Essential Function
  • Manage various direct reports on the team
  • Coordinate the College's risk management program; and serve as the point of contact for insurance brokers, insurance carriers, and claims adjustors.
  • Review content of RFP's and bid responses for major service contract, ensuring that costs of proposed services are consistent with internal budgets; develop proposed solutions where proposed costs exceed budgeted amounts; and conduct financial analyses of bid responses that offer alternatives.
  • Support the process of complying with the Pennsylvania's Right To Know Law, ensuring that correct purchasing contract information is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership, managerial oversight and strategic direction to auxiliary service operations including bookstore and food services, business services including purchasing, duplicating, mail and shipping/receiving.
  • Manage the College's leasing programs and other large dollar equipment acquisitions.
  • Deliver quality customer services to both internal and external constituents in a professional helpful and courteous manner.
  • Prepare purchase orders and maintain files on open orders
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, dynamic leader who is strategic and fosters collaboration in a manner that is flexible and supportive yet ensures accountability. This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of best practice strategies associated with general administrative practices and risk management, as well as extensive knowledge of internal controls standards and external regulations. The AVP will have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive results.
Experience & Education

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of progressive financial and business management leadership experience of accounting/administrative related activities in a professional setting; higher education, non-profit, or public accounting preferred; experience with risk management, reporting, and compliance is preferred. A BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Accounting/Finance or a related field of study is required; or equivalent combination of education and related experience; Master's degree in Business Administration is preferred.
