Description
The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Television Production in the Department of Radio, Television, Film at Hofstra University. The successful candidate will teach television production courses at the introductory and advanced levels, as part of the Department's Television and Sports Media programs.
Tenure candidates are expected to engage in scholarly research and/or creative activity, as well as participating in service to the department, the school, and the university-including committee work and academic advising. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to developing curricula reflecting the diverse creative voices in contemporary television sports, entertainment, and news.
The Department of Radio, Television, Film offers a range of undergraduate degree programs (BA, BS, BFA) in film, podcasting and audio storytelling, and television, as well as a degree in sports media offered jointly with the Herbert School's Department of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations. The Department's faculty and students benefit from extensive and well-equipped television facilities, including three studios, three control rooms, and a wide array of field equipment.

$95,000-$110,000

Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. The Professor of Television Production candidate must:
- Have experience in contemporary multi-camera studio and field television production and post-production, and demonstrate the ability to develop curricula in the areas of multi-camera sports, entertainment, and news production.
- Have extensive experience and knowledge of live multi-camera production in studio and field settings.
- Be well versed in industry-standard live multi-camera production workflows, post-production techniques for multi-camera studio and field production, and in the operation of multi-camera studios and high-level digital studio technology, including but not limited to: Ross switchers, graphics systems and servers; digital audio consoles and intercom systems; routing; and lighting systems.
- Support efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students.
Qualifications
- Terminal degree or master's degree in a related discipline and/or significant industry experience is required.
- Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusive in an educational environment.
Preferred Quals Summary
- Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred.
