Position Summary
We are seeking an Open-Rank Research/Scientist Faculty at the level of Assistant Professor or higher to support and expand the research, innovation, and grant programs within the Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM). This is a 'hard' money or budgeted position. This individual will partner with the research leadership team and select research faculty investigators to advance research and scholarship in the DEM. Exceptional organization, strong research knowledge, and evidence of grant and manuscript writing is required. Previous grant funding would be ideal. Skill set should include quantitative background and ideally qualitative study design and analysis expertise. This position seeks someone with the skills of an investigator, and a strong desire to function as part of a team to help grow the research enterprise. The successful candidate will be required to support and mentor grant writing for faculty to assist them in acquiring research funding. In addition, the candidate must have a strong understanding of scientific research methods and be able to effectively communicate complex scientific findings in a clear and concise manner. As part of the primary responsibilities, you will be responsible for coordinating project information flow, organizing, and integrating proposal components, and reviewing proposals to ensure responsiveness to guidelines. The successful candidate will (i) develop high-quality scientific content by necessary research, scientific writing, editing, and fact-checking, to meet deadlines and work within project scope and objectives, (ii) take ownership of assigned projects or programs and resolve complex technical issues to ensure excellent project delivery. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional scientific writing skills, a proven history of grant funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, presenting at regional, national, and international conferences, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting the academic success of others.
The division of research in EM is small and growing group, currently comprised of 7 individuals. This position is located in Indianapolis on the IU School of Medicine campus and offers hybrid flexibility.

Basic Qualifications
Terminal Degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Education, Life Sciences, Nursing, or Medicine (PhD or MD)
1-3 years prior experience preferred in a similar role, preferably within a scientific or health-related field.

- Develop strategic plans for the development and expansion of our research program
- Develop strong relationships with research faculty. Stay up to date with their work and be viewed as a strong partner, collaborator, and mentor
- Consult with the Department of EM faculty on complex study designs and appropriate statistical methods, apply advanced analytic methods, interpret and summarize data.
- Provide scientific and technical leadership regarding data collection, cleaning, management, and analysis; technical writing; and reporting.
- Mentor, support and co-author scientific papers for presentation and publication.
